According to All India Rice Exporters Association, Indian production of basmati rice is likely to fell by 1.4% to 5.56 Million tonne in 2018-19 as compared from 5.64 mln tn in last year. The lower production is mainly due to the decline in this year acreage to 1.52 mln ha from 1.55 mln ha planted last year. The rain in September also effect the output, concern of lower yield are reported in Haryana and Punjab.
