UK-based Cotton Outlook trimmed its forecast for global cotton production in 2017-18 (Aug-Jul) to 25.97 mln tn from 26.03 mln tn in its earlier forecast. A cut in India’s output forecast by 170,000 tn in the current year has brought about this reduction. Pakistan cotton output, too, is seen 50,000 tn lower. A considerable increase for the US, along with smaller upward adjustments in other countries, are more than offset by reductions for India and Pakistan.
