International Cotton Advisory Committee expects the global cotton output to rise to 25.7 mln tn in 2017-18 (Aug-Jul) from 23.0 mln tn a year ago due to an increase in acreage. Global cotton acreage is expected to increase 11% to 32.5 mln ha in 2017-18. In India, the largest producer of cotton, output is projected to rise 8.7% to 6.2 mln tn.
