Grains godowns of states to be made part of FCI’s digitised system soon

The government will shortly roll out a system for real-time tracking of rice and wheat held in state government godowns, in terms of volume and quality, to complete the digitalization of foodgrain storage facilities across states. Around 2,200 storage facilities or godowns owned and rented by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) have already been connected into the digital network as part of the depot online system (DOS). However, the integrated system does not include more than 14,000 godowns run by state governments. Rice and wheat stock levels with government agencies might be determined in real-time if these godowns are connected to a common site.
