Prices of groundnut seed are down in the key markets of Gujarat due to expectations of higher output in the rabi season in 2016-17. Production of groundnut seed in India this rabi season is seen at 1.6 million tonne higher than 1.2 million tonne of the previous year, said Solvent Extractors Association. Sluggish demand from oil millers and crushers also weighed on prices.
