J Thomas and Co Pvt Ltd sold 29 tn of the 93.055 tn of coffee on offer in Bengaluru on 31 May. The volume sold was 60.8% lower than at the previous auction, held on May 24. Of the total coffee available for auction, 72.262 tn was of the Arabica grade and 20.793 tn was of Robusta variety. Arabica and Robusta grades come in two varieties–washed or parchment, and unwashed or cherry. In India, Arabica parchment beans are also known as Arabica plantation. Robusta Parchment Coffees on offer received enquiry from exporters, and domestic traders were selective on Arabica Plantation and Arabica Cherry Coffees on offer. Non-traditional area coffees from Andhra Pradesh received good support from domestic traders.
