Maize prices steady in Davangere, demand sluggish

Maize prices steady in Davangere, demand sluggish. Prices of maize in Davangere, a key market for the coarse grain in Karnataka, remained steady despite higher arrivals as demand was sluggish. Spot price of the coarse grain were at 1,100-1,400 rupees per 100 kg. Around 3,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) of new maize crop arrived in Davangere, up from 1,000 bags from the previous session. Earlier this month, arrivals of the new kharif maize crop had started in the state, with the moisture content of 28-30%. Moisture content in the new maize crop is still high at 18-20%, which is keeping bulk buyers away.
