Maize prices steady in Davangere, demand subdued.

Prices of maize in Davangere, a key market for the coarse grain in Karnataka, remained steady mid low availability of good-quality crop and subdued demand. Spot price of the coarse grain were largely unchanged at 1,100-1,450 rupees per 100 kg. Around 5,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) of new maize crop arrived in Davangere, unchanged from the previous session. Earlier this month, arrivals of the new kharif maize crop started in the state. The crops had a moisture content of 28-30%. Though moisture content in the new maize crop has reduced to 18-20% since then, it is higher than the desired level of 14%.
