Rice exports from Pakistan fell by 26.3% on year to 2.44 mln tn during Nov-May. Local traders believe that the fall is due to higher prices of rice from Pakistan as compared to other countries. The export price of rice from Pakistan is at $410 per tn, while it is around $390 per tn for competing countries. However, the exports may gather pace in coming days as traders are likely to liquidate their stocks, which may bring prices down.
