Prices of mustard seed in key spot markets rose as arrivals fell

Prices of mustard seed in key spot markets rose as arrivals fell and demand from crushing units improved. Farmers stayed away from the market as spot prices were way below the minimum support prices. Mustard seed is being traded below the minimum support price of 4,200 rupees per 100 kg. In Jaipur, the oilseed was sold at 3,890-3,895 rupees per 100 kg, up by 30-35 rupees from previous day. Arrivals in spot markets across India were pegged at 350,000 bags (1 bag = 85 kg), compared with 430,000 bags on previous day. On NCDEX, mustard seed futures rose, tracking firm cues from spot markets. The April mustard seed contract rose 0.7% to 3,779 rupees per 100 kg.
