Soybean contract was 0.2% higher at 3,375 rupees per 100 kg

Price of soybean in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was steady at 3,350-3,375 rupees per 100 kg amid weak demand and arrivals, Futures contracts of most constituents of the edible oil basket. Soybean futures closed 0.3% lower on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange due to tepid demand from crushing plants. A sharp fall on the NCDEX was cushioned due to gains in soybean contracts on the Chicago Board of Trade. Prices rose on the Chicago bourse as the US is selling another over 1 mln tn of the oilseed to China after shipping around 1.5 mln tn last week. With the tensions between the US and China easing, Washington is expected to sell more crop Beijing. The US is the world’s top grower of soybean and China is the largest importer.
