Russian company to start wheat supplies to Syria this year.

dyg-Yurak company plans to start Russian wheat deliveries to Syria this year. The first lot of the new harvest will be about 200,000 tonnes and total volume of wheat exported to Syria under the contract will be 1-1.2 million tonnes in total in this and the next year.

Grain exports from Ukraine exceeded 40.7 MMT.

Ukraine exported 40.75 MMT of grains in 2016/17 by May 31, or 11.2% more than shipped abroad at the same time a year ago (36.64 MMT). This volume included 16.67 MMT of wheat (+6.7% year-on-year), 18.57 MMT of corn (+12.6%) and 5.25 MMT of barley (+22.1%). In the same period, exporters also shipped abroad 339.4 KMT of flour, including 338 KMT of wheat flour and 1.3 KMT of flour from other cereals.

Buckwheat groats production in Ukraine increased 12%.

Ukrainian groats production continued recovering in 2017. 103.8 KMT of groats were produced in the four months of the current year, i.e. 1.6% more than at the same time in 2016 (102.2 KMT was made in January-April 2016). The greatest rise is seen in output of oat groats. In the period under review, oat groats production in Ukraine expanded 2.5 times to 1.84 KMT. Output of rice groats also continued growing: it gained another 73% and reached 8.32 KMT. In addition, Ukrainian production of buckwheat and corn groats recovers as well. In January-April, buckwheat groats production increased 12.5% to 15.61 KMT, while that of corn groats gained 2.7% and reached 22.30 KMT. A decline is observed in output of millet and barley groats. In these months of 2017, production of millet groats decreased 19.3% (to 5.71 KMT), output of peeled barley groats dropped by 19.1% (to 2.73 KMT) and that of pearl barley groats fell by 7.9% (to 3.07 KMT).

India Wheat prices rise in Kota, Delhi markets on low arrivals.

In Kota, Rajasthan, rain in last few hours has hit supplies, triggering concern over quality of stocked grain. Mill-quality wheat was sold in Kota, up 10-15 rupees from previous close. In Delhi, prices of wheat rose due to lower arrivals from Uttar Pradesh. Mill-quality wheat was sold in Delhi up 30 rupees from previous clsoe.

Wheat firm as dry weather threatens U.S. crop.

Wheat gains more ground, near 1-month top. Wheat traded near its highest level in more than a month on adverse U.S. weather. Wheat added 0.5 percent to $4.46-3/4 a bushel after closing up 2 percent when prices hit highest since May 4 at $4.48-3/4 a bushel. Hot and dry weather in the northern U.S. Plains and northern Midwest is expected over the weekend, potentially damaging crops.

EU wheat hits near one-month high as U.S. rally continues.

Paris wheat futures rose to their highest in almost a month as the market again tracked weather-fuelled gains in U.S. prices. Front-month September milling wheat on the Paris-based Euronext exchange settled 1.75 euros, or 1.0 percent, higher at 168.50 euros a tonne. It earlier rose to 169.25 euros, its highest since May 12, filling a chart gap as it pulled away from a contract low of 165.00 euros hit.

Algeria bought 450,000 tonnes of milling wheat.

Algeria state grains agency OAIC bought around 450,000 tonnes of milling wheat in a tender which closed on Wednesday. The origin is optional but the wheat likely to be mainly sourced from France. Prices were between $197.25 to $199 a tonne, cost and freight included, much of the purchase was done between $197.25 to $197.75 a tonne c&f.

Japan is seeking 159,610 MT of Australian, Canadian, and US wheat.

The tender, which calls for 81,115 MT of US wheat. Taxes winter wheat harvest is 58% complete. In addition, 87% of the nation crop is headed, with most Southern state all or nearly all headed. Japan Ministry of Agriculture import 14,010 tonnes of feed-quality wheat for livestock use via a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction that closed late on Wednesday. The ministry had sought 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley to be loaded by Sept. 30 and arrive in Japan by Nov. 30 in the tender that is usually conducted weekly.

US wheat lowest offer in Iraq 50,000 T wheat tender.

The lowest price offer submitted in the tender from Iraq state grains board to buy at least 50,000 tonnes of hard wheat was $264.66 a tonne c&f free out for wheat sourced from the United States. A multinational trading house offered a total of 300,000 tonnes of US wheat in the latest tender at between $264.66 and $284.70 a tonne c&f free out. One Middle Eastern trading house offered 50,000 tonnes of US wheat at $279.50 a tonne c&f free out. A second Middle Eastern trading house offered 50,000 tonnes of US or Canadian wheat at the much higher price of $415.00 a tonne c&f free out.

Japan offers to buy 159,610 tonnes food wheat via tender.

Japan Ministry of Agriculture is seeking to buy a total of 159,610 tonnes of food quality wheat from the United States, Canada and Australia in a regular tender. Japan keeps a tight grip on imports of the country second-most important staple after rice, and buys majority of the grain for milling via tenders typically issued thrice a month.

Turkey expected 2017 wheat production to rise 6 percent.

Agriculture Minister Turkey expected wheat production to rise 6 percent in 2017 from a year earlier, while barley production was seen up 12 percent this year. Turkish Grain Board (TMO) begin purchases as of Tuesday with the aim of meeting producers storage and financing needs.

Wheat near 2-week high as adverse weather hits U.S. crops.

Chicago wheat gained more ground, trading near last session two-week high on worries about dry weather threatening production of high-protein wheat in the United States. CBOT most-active wheat contract rose 0.7 percent to $4.38-3/4 a bushel, having climbed to $4.40-3/4 a bushel, the highest since May 22. Spring wheat damage and poor conditions for the hard-red winter wheat in the U.S. because of harsh weather.

Govt FY18 wheat buys exceed target in Uttar Pradesh at 3.07 million tonne.

Government has so far procured 3.07 million tonne wheat from Uttar Pradesh for the 2017-18 (Apr-Mar) season, beating the initial target of 3.0 mln tn. Government purchases are still in progress in the state and procurement may touch 3.5 million tonne this year. Overall, the government has purchased 30.1 million tonne wheat across the country, up 31.3% from a year ago. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, procurement operations are still underway in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

EU wheat rebounds as U.S. weather rally offsets strong euro.

European wheat futures rose, recovering from a two-month low in the previous session, as a U.S. rally fuelled by poor weather for spring wheat offset strength in the euro and improving crop conditions in western Europe. Front-month September milling wheat on the Paris-based Euronext market unofficially closed 0.7 percent higher at 166.75 euros a tonne after rising as high as 167.50 euros. However, the trend remains bearish with improving crop prospects after the recent rain. The euro was firm against the dollar to trade close to a near seven-month high.

India Wheat procurement crosses 30 million tonnes; UP buys one-tenth.

FCI and state government agencies has crossed 30 million tonnes (MT) during the current rabi marketing season. This is seven MT more than the total quantity of grain purchased during the same period previous year. While Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have procured almost three-fourth of the total stock, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable improvement. Till Monday, UP procured little over three million tonnes against only eight lakh tonnes during the corresponding period during last year.

Extended dryness in Australia buoys spot wheat prices.

Offers for Australian premium white prices were trending higher than previous close, seen up about $3/mt in South Australia, as extended dryness and a bleak outlook propped up old crop prices. Production for the coming season could face downside risk given the unfavorable weather forecast and expectations of significantly lower yield. Australia is forecast to produce about 24 million-25 million mt of wheat in 2017-18 (October-September), down 30-32% from last season. Lower production in Australia could potentially help steady global wheat prices.

US wheat prices firm as US pegs crop condition below market forecasts.

Wheat futures edged up as the U.S. Department of Agriculture pegged the condition of the domestic crop below market expectations, stoking fears of production losses following recent adverse weather. The most active wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade rose 0.35 percent to $4.31 a bushel, having closed little changed on previous close. The USDA rated 55 percent of the U.S. spring wheat crop in good-to-excellent condition, down from 62 percent a week earlier.

Russian wheat prices rise on concerns over Black Sea crops.

Prices for the new crop for July-August delivery at $173-$177 a tonne, up $1.50, while IKAR put prices at $176, up $2 from the previous week. Russian wheat export prices have risen for a third consecutive week due to persistent concerns over wheat crops in Russia and Ukraine to be harvested this summer. Last week, Russia agriculture ministry downgraded its forecast for Russia 2017 grain crop to 100-105 million tonnes from a previous 110 million tonnes due to unfavourable weather. Russian prices have also been supported by demand from Egypt, the largest market for Russian wheat. Last week, Egypt state buyer agreed to buy 120,000 tonnes of Russian and 60,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat, for July 1-10 delivery.

India Wheat prices unchanged in spot markets, down on NCDEX.

Demand for wheat is weak in south India, as there are ample stocks of imported wheat at ports and domestic markets are also flooded with supplies due to a bumper crop this year. wheat futures on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange ended down. The most active June contract ended down 0.2% from the previous close.
