ISMA Sept 28 advance estimates has pegged sugar production this season at 76.60 lakh tonne, up from 68.55 lakh tonne in 2015-16. But as on April 18, mills in UP has already produced 85.27 lakh tonne. With 52 out of the 116 factories still running, the final output could touch 88 lakh tonne– an all-time-high, surpassing the previous 2006-07 record of 84.75 lakh tonne.
