Bangladesh top buyer of India cotton this yr; China, Pakistan follow.

Bangladesh has displaced Pakistan as the top importer of Indian cotton, with a 40% share in the current year ending September. Based on the export numbers available till May, Bangladesh has emerged as the biggest buyer in the current year by sharing 40% of the total exports. In 2015-16, Pakistan was the largest importer of Indian cotton with a 40% share. However, it slipped to the third spot this year, with just 15.29% share until May. China climbed to the second spot, accounting for 17% of the total exports so far, up from 9% share a year ago. India is estimated to achieve an export target of 6.0 mln bales (1 bale = 170 kg) in the current year, down from 6.9 mln bales it exported a year ago.
