China is close to lifting the six-year-old ban on imports of mustard meal from India.

China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine department are expected to give a nod in this direction shortly. A delegation from China is set come to India this month to take stock of hygiene and other quality-related issues at mustard meal plants. In the process of finding new avenues to meets its oilmeal demand, China is reconsidering its ban on oilmeal imports from India. Prior to the ban, China imported nearly 500,000 tn of oilmeal from India that included mustard meal and soymeal.
