Down in north India on weak demand, unch in Maharashtra.

Prices of sugar fell in the key wholesale markets of north India due to subdued demand from bulk buyers. Medium-grade sugar was sold at 3,500 rupees per 100 kg in Delhi and at 3,475 rupees in Muzaffarnagar, both down by 10 rupees from the previous close. Contrary to expectations, demand is not catching up. Market had expected higher festive season demand. So, prices are falling. In the key wholesale markets of Maharashtra, however, prices of the sweetener were largely unchanged in lacklustre trade. Meanwhile, merely a week into new season, Indian sugar traders are likely to have already signed deals to export around 6,000 tn sugar.
