Exports at risk on Gujarat cotton bonus, fall in prices may help.

A hefty procurement bonus, over and above the MSP, announced by the Gujarat government has queered the pitch for India’s cotton exports in the near term, prospects of which were bright till a few a months ago. There have hardly been any export deals in the last few weeks because of a jump in prices following the announcement of the procurement bonus. A sizeable 1 mln-bale export deals, struck so far for Nov-Jan shipment, are at risks due to the rise in domestic prices, as exporters are yet to purchase stocks for their deals.
