ICE sugar futures rise on lower cane area in Brazil.

Futures contracts of sugar on the ICE rise due to concerns over a fall in planted area of cane in Brazil. The fall in cane acreage would subsequently lead to a decline in sugarcane production in the country. In its first forecast for 2017-18 (Apr-Mar), Brazil crop supply agency Conab forecast cane production in the Centre-South region to fall by 2.4% to 598 million tonne. Mills in the region account for over 90% of the country total sugar production.
