Groundnut acreage in the country up 49.3% on year at 0.47 mln ha due to good progress of the southwest monsoon over some of the major growing states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan and Odisha. Farmers had sown groundnut over nearly 314,900 ha a year ago. Groundnut sowing in Gujarat, is up 549% at 249,100 ha. Area under groundnut sowing rise in Gujarat, as the monsoon hit parts of the state on June 12, three days ahead of the normal onset date of June 15.
