Area under groundnut at 0.92 mln ha across the country as of 30 June, up 16.7% from 783,900 ha a year ago. Area under groundnut in Gujarat stood at 356,300 ha as of 30 June up a whopping 229.3% on year. In Andhra Pradesh, acreage down 65.1% on year at 80,700 ha. The acreage in Rajasthan is at 329,900 ha, up 89.6% on year. In 2016-17 (Jul-Jun), India is estimated to have produced 7.65 mln tn of groundnut, down from 8.47 mln tn the previous year.
