Futures contracts of mentha oil hit a 4-month low on the MCX taking cues from the spot markets and prices were weighed down by subdued demand, both local and overseas. Mentha oil projected production in the current year 2016-17 (Jul-Jun) at around 28,000 tonne, compared with 25,000 tonne a year ago, which kept sentiment bearish for the spice oil. Increased production and consumption of synthetic mentha is seen creating pressure on natural mentha.
