National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation has bought 1.12 million tonne tur from farmers for buffer stock and ended the procurement of the pulse for 2016-17 season (July-June). NAFED has procured tur from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana at MSP. Among rabi pulses, NAFED has so far procured about 17,000 tonne chana mainly from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. NAFED is likely to procure more pulses in 2017-18, as production is expected to be better on the back of normal monsoon.
