onion down on low demand

Onion prices in Lasalgaon, Maharashtra, were down due to sluggish demand for the commodity. the benchmark market, onion was sold in a range of 500-950 rupees per 100 kg, down 100-200 rupees. Arrivals were steady at 900-1,000 trolleys, each carrying 1.5-2.0 tn of onion. Both prices and arrivals were steady in Pimpalgaon, another key market, where onion was sold at 400-900 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals were estimated at 700-900 trolleys. the state government approved an ex-gratia of 200 rupees per 100 kg on the old crop sold between Nov and Dec in a range of 150-300 rupees per 100 kg.
