SEA urges govt to set up task force to double mustard output by 2025 .

Solvent Extractors Association of India has appealed to the government to set up Mustard Technology Mission to boost mustard output in the country to 15 million tonne by 2025. The association also aimed to produce 10 million tonne by 2020 to meet the domestic demand and reduce dependency on imports of edible oil. India is importing 70% of the edible oils because its domestic production falls short of the consumption. Total output of domestic oilseeds are estimated at 27-28 million tonne and out of which mustard seed output comprised of around 7 million tonne of production. Mustard oil is widely used oil in north, east, and north-east India and its meal is rich in protein, which is used as livestock feed.
