Ukraine boosted corn starch exports by 77%.

Ukraine exported 51.6 KMT of corn starch in September-July 2016/17, or 77% more than for the whole last season (29.1 KMT was shipped abroad in MY 2015/16). Like in the previous season, the top importer of Ukrainian corn starch is Indonesia, which imported 24.3 KMT (up 55% year-on-year). Russia also somewhat restored purchases of Ukrainian corn starch: the country imported 10.7 KMT of the commodity against 9.4 KMT in the 2015/16 season. The EU increased purchases four times to 6.1 KMT. Corn starch shipments to other major end markets are on the rise, too. The current season has already featured the opening of Saudi Arabia’s market to this product. Corn starch production also grows rapidly in Ukraine. 52.35 KMT has been made in the country since the beginning of 2017, or 62% more than at the same last year.
