After research of 7 years Indian Agri Foods Biotechnology Institute, Mohali made the patent of “Black Wheat” which named as Nabi-MG. This wheat is healthier than the others available Black, blue and violet colors of wheat. It is used as precautionary for cancer, Diabetes, stress, fat and heart diseases. 1st time in India it will grow in Punjab and 850qtl already grown for trial and farmers will get double price for that (Normal wheat price Rs. 1625/qtl vs Black wheat 3250/qtl). Yield difference in normal wheat and black wheat will be 18-20 qtl/acre vs 13-17 qtl/acre. Its research held in Mohali from 2010-2017 by scientist Dr. Monika Garg.
