About 284 paddy purchasing centres in East Godavari will start functioning from October 1.

Joint Collector said that 284 paddy purchasing centres will start functioning from October 1. Govt would pay minimum support price for farmers through 284 paddy purchasing centres. Joint Collector also asked the farmers not to trust the middlemen and brokers. Govnt will buy paddy from 61 centres through Velugu, 208 centres though Primary Agricultural Credit Societies,15 centres through District Cooperative Marketing Societies. Paddy is cultivated in 2,23,926 hectares of land this kharif season and hoped that 10,95,838 metric tonnes of paddy were expected to come to market this season.
