The state government will soon sign an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation to import rice at lower than ever prices. This is announced by food and civil supplies minister while replying to an adjournment motion moved by Muslim League MLA T. V. Ibrahim on rising prices of essential commodities in the Assembly on 9 August. While opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala insisted on the specifics of the Andhra rice deal like the date of signing, the price of imported rice and the quantity, the minister said such details were in the process of being firmed up.
