Drought in Argentina damaged the quality of the current corn crop & delayed harvesting, giving Ukrainian producers an edge in March & April shipment windows.Premiums for FOB Panamax March loadings of Argentinian corn are now more than 80 cents/bu above the Chicago futures May contract on tight supply. April loadings have been heard lower in the mid-to-high 60 cents/bu range, on the arrival of the new harvest. However, the harvest has already been delayed to the second half of April from the first half due to the drought and rains arriving 10 days later than forecast.
