Prices of rice exported from Asian countries fell in the week ended Saturday because of reduced demand, and higher supplies from Vietnam. In India, prices of the 5% broken parboiled variety declined by $3 per tn to $419-$423 per tn, in Vietnam by $5 per tn to $405-$415 per tn and in Thailand by $2 to $430-$432 per tn. Demand from African and Asian buyers remained weak, even at the lower price. However, the fall in prices is likely to be arrested due to expectations of fresh demand from Bangladesh.
