Farmers have planted nearly 1.72 mln ha of paddy crop in Assam, down 6.3% from the previous year. Last year, acreage under the crop was around 1.84 mln ha in the state. Recent floods in the state due to heavy rains have damaged nearly 382,800 ha of paddy crop.
