Haryana government purchase around 1,600,000 thousand tonnes of bajra in current seasons as compared to 34,449 tonnes of procurement last year.
Authorities are expecting that this year procurement would be around 0.3 MMT.
This year MSP is increased by Rs.525 per 100 kgs to Rs.1925 per 100 kgs.
Currently, state agencies Hafed and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation are procuring the crop in the state. And the payments are under the Bhavantar scheme are being made by the Haryana agriculture department.
Under the scheme, a farmer is required to get registered with the agriculture department’s e-kharid portal, ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’, and also submit documents to reveal the size of cultivation and details of bank account and are being paid directly through their bank accounts.
Meanwhile, to curb smuggling from other states, the government has capped procurement of bajra at 8 quintals per acre.
