Prices of basmati rice fell today in the key wholesale market of Amritsar, Punjab, as exports to Iran have not started yet. Currently, trade in basmati rice is negligible as Iran, a major buyer, has not lifted an import ban yet. Traders are hoping that the country will remove the ban by Jan 20.
