The Bharat Brand, a government initiative designed to provide essential goods at subsidized prices to support consumer and to keep retail price in check, is set to expand its offerings in Phase 2. In Phase 1, National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF) successfully distributed 0.28 million tonne of Chana Dal, 818 tonnes of Moong Dal, 0.43 million tonne of Rice, and 0.39 million tonnes of Wheat. In this next phase, the Bharat Brand will introduce Chana Whole and Bharat Masoor Dal. The initial rollout will target four states: Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, with plans for nationwide distribution by the NCCF within ten days. Whole Chana allocations include 0.1 million tonne each for NCCF, NAFED, and Kendriya Bhandar. Moong Dal will be distributed at 75,000 tonne each for NCCF and NAFED, while Masoor will have 55,262 tonne for NCCF and 12,500 tonne for NAFED. Discussions are ongoing with e-commerce platforms and retail outlets to further enhance accessibility to Bharat Brand products.
