Brazil’s coffee production in 2017 is seen at 44.77 mln bags (1 bag = 60 kg), down by 790,000 bags. A decline in Brazil’s Arabica production is likely to pull down the overall coffee production in the country. Conab cut its estimate for Brazil’s Arabica coffee production by 1.36 mln bags to 34.07 mln bags. In Minas Gerais, Conab downgraded its forecast for output by 1.26 mln bags to 32.90 mln bags. A significant outbreak of pests and diseases & excessively wet weather during May and June are the major reasons for thedowngrade.
