Buying at lower levels lifts sugar prices in north India.

Prices of sugar inched higher in the wholesale markets of north India due to buying at lower prices. In Delhi and Muzaffarnagar, prices rise by 15 rupees per 100 kg each respectively. Easing of selling pressure on mills also supported prices. Mills in Uttar Pradesh do not have to pay cane farmers now because crushing operations have ended. The benchmark July sugar contract on the bourse was almost flat.
