Futures contracts of corn on the CBOT rose as the USDA lowered its estimate for global production in 2017-18. In a report this month, the USDA lowered its projection for global corn output by 84,000 tn to 1.03 bln tn. The decline in the estimate could be attributed to a smaller crop in the European Union. Despite lower production estimates, global carryover stocks of maize are seen higher at 202.5 mln tn, compared with 200.9 mln tn estimated in August.
