Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed lower on Wednesday for a second straight session, pressured by a surprise improvement in US winter wheat condition ratings and sluggish export demand. CBOT December soft red winter wheat settled down 4-3/4 cents at $5.03 per bushel. K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended down 5-1/2 cents at $4.81 a bushel after dipping to $4.80-1/4, its lowest since December 2017. The USDA late on Tuesday rated 54 percent of the US winter wheat crop in good to excellent condition, up from 51 percent the previous week. The crop was 89 percent planted, lagging the five-year average of 94 percent.
