CBOT wheat prices strengthened slightly last week.

During the reporting week (December 07 – 14), CBOT wheat prices grew 0.2%. Compared to the previous year, the futures lost 3.7%. CBOT prices somewhat strengthened against the backdrop of favorable weekly data on the US wheat export sales. During November 30- December 07, 589 KMT of wheat were contracted that was 83% more than the previous week and 11% more than during the same period last year. However, in general, bearish factors dominated the market. In particular, the pressure came from the publication of December USDA report. Now world wheat production estimate exceeds the level of the previous season. The production forecast was raised by 3.23 MMT to a new high of 755.2 MMT (753.6 MMT in 2016/17). In addition, the world’s wheat final stocks estimate was raised by 0.9 MMT to 268.4 MMT.
