Mills across the Centre-South region of Brazil are likely to produce around 27 mln tn sugar in 2018-19, sharply down from around 36.06 mln tn produced in 2017-18. The sugar season in Brazil, one of the top producers and exporters of the sweetener, runs from April to March, with mills in the centre-south region crushing cane till October. Mills in the region accounts for more than 90% of the country’s total sugar output. Sugar mills in Brazil are likely to continue producing ethanol in 2018-19″, prices of which are currently more attractive.
