Chickpeas area in Australia has been forecast up by 2.99 % from previous year to 11.01 mln ha for 2017-18 crop vs 10.69 mln ha LY. Production estimate has been decreased by 23.62 % to 1.41 MMT vs 1.85 MMT LY. The main reason behind lower production forecast is mainly attributed to bad weather for planting. Australia had achieved highest yield LY due to favorable weather condition throughout the season.
