China has held 500 containers at the ports due to quality and nomenclature issues. More than 15,000 tn of cotton linter is held at Chinese ports. China has been importing cotton lint since ages and this has been the first time the country has held our stocks, adding that this is due to the political concerns between the countries and the recent trade war between US and China. The cotton lint which has been held by China is roughly worth 2 bln rupees. The association has written a letter to Minister of Commerce & Industry Suresh Prabhu, and he is likely to take up the issue with his Chinese counterpart.
