Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture claimed local corn production has reached 27.9 million tonnes. However, the price of corn is still high, at around USD 0.31-0.33 per kg, higher than the government’s reference price of USD 0.23 (moisture content at 15%). The government’s claim was not based on real facts. If the production of local corn is increasing, the price should contract. The government’s data is totally different from USDA data which recorded Indonesia’s corn production at 13 million tonnes.
