Egypt’s strategic wheat reserves are enough to meet consumption needs until the beginning of the harvest season in the second half of April. The ministry said earlier this month that Egypt had wheat reserves totalling 3.4 million tonnes. Ramadan did not give an updated reserves figure. Egypt expected to buy about 7 million tonnes of wheat during the fiscal year that began in July.
