Production of soybean in the 2017-18 (Jul-Jun) kharif season may come down due to the possibility of an erratic second half of the southwest monsoon season. Expected output of the oilseed at 10.6-10.7 mln tn. In 2016-17 soybean crop was around 14.0 mln tn. Sowing of soybean is expected to decline 3-4% on year to 11-11.2 mln haas farmers are seen shifting to cotton and pulses.
