Ethiopia issues another tender to buy 70,000 MT wheat.

Ethiopian government has issued an international tender to buy about 70,000 tonnes of milling wheat. The tender deadline is Dec. 5. The government currently has a huge programme of wheat imports. Ethiopia is struggling with the impact of drought which has devastated farms in some regions with millions of people in need of food aid. Finance for the 70,000-tonne tender is being provided by the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) and other aid agencies. The grain is sought in two 35,000 tonne consignments. Ethiopia also made a major purchase of 400,000 tonnes of wheat in early November. A separate tender from Ethiopia for 400,000 tonnes of wheat closes on Nov. 28.
