EU wheat acreage may fall for fourth straight year.

Wheat acreage in the EU is likely to fall for the fourth consecutive year in 2018.The agency has pegged 2018 wheat acreage in the EU at 23.5 mln ha, down 300,000 ha from a year ago, due to weak prices and wet weather conditions. The 2018 harvest has been negatively affected by current low wheat prices and bad conditions at planting time in northern Europe. The EU is the world’s largest producer of soft wheat and also exports the grain to India.
