Extreme weather conditions may damage US wheat crop

Extremely cold conditions and drought may damage winter wheat crop in Kansas, US. More than 50% of the state is reeling under drought conditions currently, while it was only 1.5% three months ago. There is not much hope of good rains in the next three months. Kansas is the largest wheat producing state in the US and a lower output may hit the country’s total crop. Fall in US wheat output may lift global prices and make imports costlier for India.
