United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has raised its forecast for global wheat output for 2018-19 by 7.5 mln tn to 754.1 mln tn. The increase mostly relates to Argentina as well as Canada and the US where improved weather conditions have boosted prospects for winter and spring outputs, respectively. Estimates from India also point to a higher-than-expected output, further boosting the global production outlook. Owing to a higher output, global wheat stocks are now seen at a record 283.4 mln tn, up from 279.0 mln tn a month ago. The rise in forecast for wheat ending stocks is mostly on account of larger stocks in Argentina, European Union.
