The average export price of 25% broken non-basmati rice in India fell 1.3% on month to $385 a tn in March. During the same month last year, the grain was sold at $344 per tn. Rice prices fell in India due to weak global demand and also because the harvest of off-season rice crop is inching closer. Prices of rice fell in Vietnam as winter-spring harvest progressed in the country, and in Thailand, prices fell as off season crops were approaching the harvesting stage.
